Shade Tolerance

The amount of sunlight that reaches the forest floor after a harvest is one of the crucial elements in what species regenerates (among many other factors). Very tolerant describes tree species that can grow as young seedlings and saplings in conditions with low light. Very intolerant describes tree species that need full amounts of sunlight above them to allow the seedlings and saplings to thrive!
